Have questions about Faith-Based therapy?
Q&A-
Faith-based therapy uses the same professional and evidence-based approaches as traditional therapy. The difference is that it also provides space to explore how your faith, spiritual beliefs, and personal values influence your mental health, relationships, and healing. Prayer, Scripture, or other spiritual practices may be incorporated when requested, but they are never required. You remain in control of how much—or how little—faith is included in your sessions.
-
Faith-based therapy can support many of the same concerns addressed in traditional therapy, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, stress, and major life transitions. It can also help with concerns connected specifically to faith, such as spiritual doubt, religious trauma, guilt or shame, loss of meaning, and difficulty reconciling personal experiences with spiritual beliefs.
-
A faith-based therapy session is similar to a traditional therapy session. You and your therapist will discuss your concerns, experiences, and goals while using evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs. Your therapist will also ask whether—and how—you would like your faith included. Depending on your preferences, sessions may incorporate prayer, Scripture, spiritual reflection, or conversations about how your beliefs relate to what you are experiencing. Nothing will be included without your consent..
